Language Stay in Dublin

For two weeks, the students of BMS Winterthur had the opportunity to take part in a language stay in Dublin. The aim of the trip was to improve our English skills while experiencing Irish culture and history first-hand.

In the mornings, we attended a language school, where we were divided into different classes according to our level. We expanded our vocabulary, improved our language skills, and even learned some Irish slang, which was both fun and fascinating. In the afternoons, we went on exciting excursions that allowed us to discover the many different sides of Ireland, or we had free time to explore the city on our own.

One of the highlights was visiting Trinity College, one of Ireland's most famous universities. We were also amazed by the Cliffs of Moher and the Giant's Causeway. Both natural wonders offered breathtaking views and beautifully showcased the stunning Irish landscape.

The trip also offered many cultural experiences. During a guided tour of Belfast, we gained fascinating insights into the city's eventful history. We also visited the Titanic Museum, which tells the story of the famous passenger ship in a modern and impressive way. Another memorable highlight was the Game of Thrones Studio Tour, where we had the chance to go behind the scenes of one of the world's most successful television series.

We will also remember the shared activities for a long time. At the historic Howth Castle, we took part in a cooking class, where we were able to improve our cooking skills while having lots of fun. During an Irish dancing lesson, we learned traditional dances and experienced first-hand how important music and tradition are in Irish culture.

Dublin itself impressed us with its lively atmosphere. The city is known for its welcoming people, rich history, and vibrant musical culture. Talented street musicians can be found throughout the city, and traditional as well as modern live music can be heard in the many pubs almost every evening. This unique atmosphere made the stay a truly unforgettable experience for everyone.

The language stay offered much more than just English lessons. It gave us the opportunity to use our English in everyday situations, gain new experiences, and discover Ireland from many different perspectives. The combination of language classes, culture, history, and shared activities made these two weeks a valuable experience that we will all remember for a long time.
